Voting the Ballot
For purposes
of identification,
the election official(s) will ask all voters to provide
identification. However, only first-time voters who registered
by mail and did not provide ID when registering are required to
provide ID.
If a first-time voter who registered by mail did not provide ID
when registering, the voter must provide ID or he/she must vote a
PROVISIONAL ballot. If a voter (including first-time voters
who registered by mail and provided ID when registering) is unable
to provide identification, the election official must indicate on
the precinct voter registration list that the voter did not provide
identification and give the voter a REGULAR ballot.
Acceptable forms of identification include:
- a current/valid photo ID such as a driver’s license
- a copy of
a current utility bill that shows the voter’s name and address
- a copy of a bank statement that shows the voter’s name and
address
- a copy of a government check or paycheck that shows
the voter’s name and address
- a copy of another government document that shows the voter’s
name and address)
