County Projects

USGS awarded a CAP Grant to fund an interactive web mapping service where Benton County published data such as the 2006 6” aerial photography, 2004 digital elevation model, Arkansas Centerline File or ACF, parcel boundary data, and  more.  You can create your own maps and print them from this site.

The Arkansas Geographic Information Office contracted for an ADOPII (Arkansas Digital Orthophotography Project II) project where Earth Data captured1foot – 3 foot data for the entire state of Arkansas in the spring of 2006.  The data is available on GeoStor.

Benton County is an active partner in The National Map program providing aerial photography, elevation data, streets, etc and maintaining that data in order to streamline local government activities.  The US Geological Survey has a need to update the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.  Benton County has become a front-line steward/editor of the National Hydrologic Dataset or NHD.  With the current high resolution digital ortho aerial photography acquired in 2006 and LiDAR data acquired in 2004 the Benton will be updating the existing medium and high resolution NHD data for Benton and Washington Counties from 1:100,000 and 1:24,000 scales to 1:4800 scale.  This will update water sources such as streams, lakes, rivers, ponds and the flow of the water.  This update will assist in the analysis of water resources for flow, flood inundation, impacts of a spill, etc.  Benton and Washington Counties are in a high visibility and high risk area with the tremendous amount of growth that is being experienced coupled with the water source for 1 out of 8 Arkansans coming from the Beaver Reservoir located in the area.
