This office reviews all on site sewage system designs and conducts an on site review prior to any disposal system being installed. This process allows for poor and unacceptable sites to be identified early and either an alternate disposal system proposed or the site deemed unsuitable for on site disposal. This office also performs an assessment of the completed installation prior to it being covered and placed into service.

1. Approximately 1,489 permits for on site disposal systems were issued in fiscal year 2005.




2. Since Act 402 of 1977 was adopted as the law governing on site sewage disposal systems in the state of Arkansas, more septic system permits have been issued in Benton County than any other county in the state.
